World Wellbeing Week 21st-30th June
Wellbeing Week started in Jersey, Channel Islands in 2019 and has now evolved into a worldwide event. Now in its third year, it gives the opportunity to raise awareness for various aspects of wellbeing including social, physical, emotional, financial, career, community and environmental wellbeing.
At benecos, we put our wellbeing first and it has never been more important, especially during these challenging times! Here are our top tips on prioritising our wellbeing:
Get a good night’s sleep – If we want to feel refreshed in the morning, it is important to get a good night’s sleep the night before. An average of 8 hours will help restore our energy and reboot the system. Downtime protects us from infection, which benefits our immune system. How do we get these important hours in?
Stop drinking caffeine earlier – Caffeine helps us stay alert in the morning; therefore, to get a good rest at night, it is recommended to cut out tea, coffee and fizzy drinks after 2pm.
Switch off screens – It is advised that we turn off screens 2 hours before bed. The blue light from our digital devices suppresses the production of melatonin, which is a sleep-inducing hormone. Try reading a book instead.
Block out all distractions – Use ear plugs to remove outside noise or cancel out a snoring partner! Blackout blinds can help eliminate light pollution from the street.
Look for ways to destress – Everyday stress can creep up on us, which can lead to mental health issues. How can we take small steps to make a big difference?
Declutter – Tidy home = tidy mind. This helps us feel in control.
Be mindful – Focus on the present, rather than the future. This is beneficial as it makes us feel grounded and grateful for where we are and what we have.
Talk to someone – A problem shared is a problem halved, be it a friend, family member or professional, do not carry the burden alone. Reconnecting with someone can make all the difference.
Freshen up – Light some candles and take a long relaxing bath. If a bath is not your thing, then why not have a long shower. Use our Sea Buckthorn and Orange Shower Gel to awaken your senses as well as your skin!
Exercise regularly – Exercise releases endorphins, which makes us feel energised. This could be a simple walk to get some fresh air, a dance around the house with the music up loud while cleaning, taking up cycling, doing some yoga or even some gardening.
Take up a new challenge – This is a good way to keep your mind stimulated, try a new recipe, baking, painting or a new make-up look. Our True-Blue Natural Quattro Eyeshadow has four shades of eyeshadows, which is perfect for creating a bold look. If you are up for a bigger challenge, take yourself out of your comfort zone, join a new club or sign up to an online course. Trying something new always feels good!
